This hostel is very well located in the centre of Tallinn close to everything.
However the hostel isn't in great condition and is a bit dirty, my mattress was covered in stains and the kitchen had a funky odour. Staff were generally okay if a little unfriendly.
Also, whilst it claims to be a backpacker hostel, it also seems to double as a boarding house for migrant workers. The big groups of these guys in common areas may be intimidating for women.
So, its a lovely bar and hostel IF you are lucky enough and get a room on Lai22 hostel which is above the bar.
They also operate with another hostel, next to the bar, as i assume it was another hostel that now belongs to Lai22. So THAT building was the worst hostel i have ever been so far. It was SUPER cold in the corridor and i wasn't even able to take a shower cause i was freezing. No hairdryers, cold water in the WC sink, poor insulation and generally it felt like -20C inside.
I think this hostel gets a bad rep from a few people that had a bad experience and I think this is a pretty good hostel. It has a cozy and homey feel to it, with a big living room to chill and meet people and other spaces if youu2019d like to work and be peaceful. The rooms are spacious and clean and the beds have comfy new mattresses (no bed bugs!). The staff was also very nice even when I checked in at 2am in the morning. All in all a good experience! Only feedback is the safes could be sturdier.
The owner and the guy working behind the bar were doing everything they could to help me when it turned out I'd left my passport in Finland.
The kitchen can get a little crowded with there being so many people in the hostel sharing one small kitchen.
The atmosphere at night was great, we had Jackbox Games in the common room, everyone was having a drink and meeting new people.
It was fairly clean. Good location.
Overall I would recommend.
It was ok. After reading other reviews I can see it from both perspectives. Iu2019ve stayed at worse but definitely have stayed in better. I think a keycard for the room would have been my biggest criticism, I donu2019t think the room was ever locked during my stay. It had a mix of travellers but did have a few people which were a bit odd to say the least. Probably due to the such low price. A revamp and a real focus on travellers could really turn the place around!

Very please with this hostel, staff were always very helpful and took time to acknowledge, greet and make you feel welcome. Bathroom facilities were easily one of the best I have come across in hostels and ample availability.
Only real points for improving would be securing the beds (although solid and comfy) had a tendency to move when you climb to the top bunk. My pillow was a little past itu2019s life (I probably could have changed it but didnu2019t)

So cheap and yet such a nice hostel! Everything is super clean and well kept whilst also having a really lovely atmosphere and character to it. All the staff are super friendly and thereu2019s always someone to chat to either around the bar/reception or in the sitting or dining areas. All you could need in the kitchen and the beds are comfy. Really good value for money and the best part is the location is right in the centre of the old town and easy walking distance to all of tallinn!
